Thailand’s MICE Success in Numbers

158 International Meetings Hosted

In 2024, Thailand hosted 158 international meetings, up from 143 the previous year, elevating its global ranking to 25th. Retaining 5th place in Asia-Pacific and leading ASEAN, Thailand’s MICE sector, driven by Bangkok’s 115 meetings, showcases robust regional and global appeal.

Secondary Cities Gain Recognition

13 Thai Cities in ICCA Rankings

For the first time, 13 Thai cities, including Chiang Mai, Pattaya, and Phuket, appeared in ICCA’s 2024 rankings, reflecting Thailand’s strategy to decentralize its MICE industry. This expansion boosts local economies and creates new business opportunities beyond major urban centers.

Economic Impact of MICE

309 Billion Baht Contribution

Thailand’s MICE industry welcomed 25.35 million travelers in 2024, generating 148.34 billion baht in revenue and contributing 309 billion baht to the economy, or 1.67% of GDP. These figures underscore the sector’s critical role in driving national economic growth and tourism.

TCEB’s Strategic Vision

3S Strategy and BRICS Focus

The Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau is advancing its MICE sector through digital innovation and regional strengths, guided by the “3S Strategy” to encourage longer stays, higher spending, and repeat visits. Targeting BRICS markets, TCEB aims to cement Thailand’s global MICE leadership.

Ambitious Goals for 2025

Targeting 34 Million Visitors

Looking to 2025, TCEB plans to attract 34 million MICE travelers and generate 200 billion baht in revenue. By enhancing secondary cities’ infrastructure and services, Thailand is poised to maintain its ASEAN dominance and establish itself as Asia’s top MICE destination.
