ISOC’s Commitment to Border Security

Support for Frontline Efforts

The Internal Security Operations Command (ISOC) has vowed to strengthen frontline operations amid the ongoing Thai-Cambodian border standoff, leveraging its extensive networks and resources. Major General Thanathip Sawangsaeng, a senior ISOC official, announced this pledge following a strategic meeting in Chonburi with the Royal Thai Navy’s Chanthaburi-Trat Border Defence Command. The agency’s focus is on supporting military efforts to maintain peace along the tense border.

Leveraging Local Networks

Volunteers Enhance Operations

ISOC is mobilizing its vast network of local civilians and volunteers to aid border security operations. Thanathip emphasized the critical role of community participation, noting that local networks provide invaluable intelligence and support. These volunteers, including development and self-defense groups, are integral to ISOC’s strategy, enhancing coordination with military units to address the escalating situation effectively.

Strategic Public Relations

Shaping Public Perception

Beyond logistics, ISOC is prioritizing public relations to manage the narrative surrounding the border dispute. By utilizing its communication channels, the agency aims to counter misinformation and foster public support for Thailand’s position. This strategic outreach is vital for maintaining national unity and ensuring that border operations are perceived as efforts to protect sovereignty through peaceful means.

Collaboration with Military Task Forces

Integrated Security Framework

ISOC is working closely with the Suranaree and Burapha task forces under a unified framework to reinforce border stability. This collaboration strengthens Thailand’s response to the standoff, which intensified after a deadly clash on May 28 near Chong Bok in Ubon Ratchathani, resulting in the death of a Cambodian soldier. The integrated approach ensures seamless coordination across military and civilian efforts.

Upholding National Sovereignty

Peaceful Law Enforcement

Thanathip underscored ISOC’s alignment with government policies focused on preventing legal violations while safeguarding Thailand’s sovereignty. The agency’s operations emphasize peaceful mechanisms, balancing firmness with diplomacy. By enhancing intelligence and local cooperation, ISOC aims to deter further escalations while maintaining a strong defensive posture along the contested border.

Response to Ongoing Tensions

Addressing Regional Challenges

The Thai-Cambodian border dispute, reignited by the May 28 incident, has heightened regional tensions, prompting ISOC to scale up its involvement. The agency’s extensive volunteer networks and intelligence capabilities position it as a key player in supporting military operations. As Thailand navigates this complex standoff, ISOC’s multifaceted approach aims to ensure stability and protect national interests without resorting to further conflict.
