On March 30, experts from the Department of Public Works and Town & Country Planning conducted a thorough inspection of Sala Chalermkrung. Their findings confirmed no structural damage, cracks, or safety concerns. As a result, the theater resumed its scheduled performances on March 31, reaffirming its role as a cultural hub in Bangkok.

Sala Chalermkrung was a visionary gift from King Rama VII to commemorate Bangkok’s 150th anniversary. Opened on July 2, 1936, it became a beacon for traditional Thai performing arts and cultural tourism. The theater was groundbreaking in its era, being the first in Asia to install air conditioning with a Chilled Water System from the U.S., revolutionizing the entertainment experience.

Sala Chalermkrung remains Bangkok’s premier destination for live entertainment, showcasing traditional Thai Khon masked dance performances such as the Hanuman Khon Show. This UNESCO-recognized art form is performed Monday to Friday at 1:00 PM, 2:30 PM, and 4:00 PM, each lasting 25 minutes.
