Thailand’s rainy season continues to affect various regions differently, with light showers in Bangkok and heavy downpours anticipated in the south. Here’s a comprehensive look at Thailand’s regional weather forecast.

Thailand’s Latest Weather Update from the Meteorological Department

The Thai Meteorological Department (TMD) has issued a new weather advisory, predicting light rain in Bangkok, the central region, and the eastern region, while the southern region faces significant downpours in 60% of the area.

Cool Mornings in the North and Northeast

In northern Thailand, the mornings remain cool, particularly in Mae Hong Son, Chiang Mai, and Tak. With temperatures ranging from 21°C to 35°C, residents can expect light rain across 10% of the northern area. Meanwhile, northeastern areas like Chaiyaphum and Nakhon Ratchasima are also forecasted to experience cool mornings and light rain, with temperatures varying between 19°C and 34°C.

Central Thailand Faces Isolated Thunderstorms

The central region, including Uthai Thani, Kanchanaburi, Ratchaburi, and Samut Songkhram, is expected to see scattered thunderstorms across 10% of the area. Temperatures in this region are expected to range from 22°C to 35°C.

East Thailand to Experience Scattered Thunderstorms

Eastern Thailand will see thunderstorms affecting 10% of the area, particularly in Chon Buri, Rayong, and Chanthaburi. Winds from the northeast are expected to reach speeds between 15 to 30 km/h. The sea will experience waves up to 1 metre high, reaching over 2 metres in stormy areas. Minimum temperatures in the eastern region will hover around 23°C to 25°C, with maximum temperatures from 33°C to 35°C.

Heavy Rainfall Expected in Southern Thailand

Eastern Coast

The eastern coast of the south, including provinces like Chumphon, Surat Thani, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Phatthalung, Songkhla, and Yala, is expected to see thunderstorms in 60% of the area. Temperatures are predicted to range between 23°C and 34°C, with waves of about 1 metre high, increasing to over 2 metres in stormy areas.

Western Coast

The western coast, including Ranong, Phang Nga, Phuket, Krabi, Trang, and Satun, is also expected to see heavy rain across 60% of the area. Minimum temperatures here will be around 24°C to 26°C, with maximums of 30°C to 33°C. Sea waves are expected to reach between 1 to 2 metres, with higher swells in storm-prone areas.

Bangkok and Vicinity Expect Light Showers

Bangkok and its nearby areas can expect light rainfall, covering about 10% of the area, with temperatures ranging between 24°C and 35°C. Residents are advised to remain prepared for unexpected showers.

Weather Advisory and Safety Tips for the Rainy Season

With varying weather across Thailand, residents are advised to stay updated on forecasts and take necessary precautions. The TMD recommends that northern and northeastern residents, who are currently experiencing cooler weather, should be mindful of fluctuating temperatures, while those in the southern regions should prepare for heavy rainfall and possible flash floods in high-risk areas.

This comprehensive forecast helps residents and travelers prepare for the diverse weather conditions, from light drizzles in Bangkok to heavy rains in the south.
