Police were called to a hotel on Phra Metta Road in Patong yesterday evening (September 3rd) to find a Thai man dead from a gunshot wound to the head. He had apparently inflicted the wound on himself out of guilt after his affair was discovered.
The hotel was called to the scene at around 6:11pm and found the body of Patong resident Sajeecha Nonthakan (40) lying on the floor.
There was a bullet mark where the bullet had entered his right temple and exited from his left temple. A Smith & Wesson 9mm pistol was on the floor next to him. Shell casings were found about one meter away. Police were met at the scene by a 22-year-old woman who said she had been having an affair with Sajeecha.
Nonthakan’s wife, who runs a cannabis shop on Pramettha Road, had recently discovered the affair, causing him great stress, the woman said.
Overwhelmed with guilt and despair, Nonthakan committed suicide by shooting himself in the temple with a 9mm Smith & Wesson pistol, the woman said.
Sajeecha’s body was sent for an autopsy and forensic experts examined the room. Police are continuing to investigate.
