Governor Highlights Tourism Success in Chon Buri Chon Buri’s tourism revenue reached 27 billion baht (US$777 million) from July to October, marking a 4% increase from last year. Governor Thawatchai Srithong attributes this growth to Chon Buri’s reputation as a top tourism destination, rivaling Bangkok and Phuket.

Popular Attractions Drive Regional Economic Growth With the baby hippo’s fame drawing attention, tourists are exploring nearby hotspots like Bang Saen, Pattaya, Sri Racha, and Si Chang Island, bringing economic benefits to local communities.

2. Global Fans Flock to See Moo Deng at Khao Kheow Open Zoo

Zoo Reports Spike in International Visitors Khao Kheow Open Zoo reports a 10% increase in foreign visitors, especially from China, France, Germany, Japan, Russia, and South Korea. Visitor numbers surged to a record 300,000 in October, partly due to the appeal of baby hippo Moo Deng and the school holidays.

Viral Videos Turn Moo Deng into an Internet Sensation Zoo director Narongwit Chodchoy credits the hippo’s fame to videos posted by her keeper, Atthapon Nundee, and zoo visitors. These videos have gone viral, making Moo Deng a beloved global sensation with her playful, bouncy personality.
