Marcus Rashford has surprised many by making an early return to Carrington for training, despite being among five Manchester United players reportedly granted additional leave to explore transfer opportunities away from the club.

The England international was spotted at United’s training ground on both Monday and Tuesday, taking part in solo sessions rather than joining full team activities. This move comes amid his uncertain future at Old Trafford, with reports indicating the club is open to selling him this summer.

Rashford is part of a group — including Jadon Sancho, Antony, Alejandro Garnacho, and Tyrell Malacia — that has been permitted to delay their return to training to negotiate potential exits. However, all five have retained access to Manchester United’s top-tier medical and rehabilitation facilities, ensuring that contractual obligations are honored.

Tensions between Rashford and new head coach Ruben Amorim reportedly began before Rashford’s mid-season loan to Aston Villa, following disagreements over training commitment. Despite speculation of his departure, the 27-year-old remains under contract and, according to sources, had expected to feature in United’s pre-season preparations.

Rashford’s iconic No. 10 shirt has already been reassigned to new signing Matheus Cunha, hinting at a possible changing of the guard. Meanwhile, clubs such as Bayern Munich and Barcelona have been linked with interest in the forward.

Manchester United, who are close to finalizing a deal for Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford, may need to offload several players to balance the books and comply with financial regulations. As reported by ESPN FC, the Red Devils will begin their pre-season campaign against Leeds United in Stockholm on July 19 before heading to the United States for a summer tour.

With uncertainty surrounding Rashford’s future, fans and pundits alike will be watching closely to see how the situation unfolds in the coming weeks.
