INTERNATIONAL SEARCH BEGINS FOR A TAJIKISTANI MAN AFTER MURDER OF RUSSIAN IN CHALONG

Authorities in Thailand have kicked off an international search for a Tajikistani man suspected of murder following the discovery of a deceased Russian man at a cannabis farm near Chalong.

The incident occurred last week when the lifeless body of a Russian national was uncovered at a cannabis plantation nestled in the hills overlooking Chalong, Phuket. Investigators noted signs of a struggle and foul play, with the victim’s throat slit.

The suspect, identified only as Mr. Bakhtovar, is believed to have departed Phuket on Tuesday, March 12th, aboard flight No.TK172 bound for Istanbul, Turkey. Law enforcement agencies in Phuket are currently gathering evidence to support a formal arrest warrant for Bakhtovar and have initiated an Interpol Red alert to facilitate cooperation with international authorities for his apprehension and extradition to Thailand.

According to police reports, Bakhtovar, a Tajikistan national, resided alone at the cannabis farm. The victim, a Russian individual, had entered Bakhtovar’s residence but failed to exit, later discovered dead with a slit throat. Bakhtovar allegedly vacated the premises following the incident, subsequently departing Phuket for Turkey.

The Phuket Provincial Court issued the arrest warrant for Bakhtovar on March 14th, 2024. Authorities suspect the murder may have stemmed from a business dispute related to the cannabis farm. Investigations into the matter are ongoing, with Phuket police actively pursuing leads to bring the perpetrator to justice.
