A Rawai father has gone public with his frustration after his 6-year-old son was brutally attacked by classmates at Wat Sawan Arom school and agreed not to receive compensation.

The incident occurred on August 18, when the 32-year-old father reported to Chalong police that his son had been tied up, stripped naked and assaulted by two or three girls. They tied the boy’s hands, removed his shirt, pulled his trousers down to his ankles and used rubber sandals to hit his back, body and head, injuring him.

A video of the attack, apparently filmed by one of the attackers, shows the girls repeatedly hitting the boy on the head, back and stomach with a rubber sandal. The attack began with the girl raising her foot over the boy’s face to knock him down, then continuing to hit him as hard as she could. “Despite the age of the girls involved, the video clearly shows malicious intent,” the father said.

Following the father’s complaint, Chalong Police Station investigator Lt. Col. Charas Lempang arranged a meeting between the father and the involved parties on August 23. An investigation revealed that an 11-year-old boy was among the girls involved.

The girls’ guardians agreed to pay the father a total of 10,000 baht (US$300) in compensation. The agreement called for the payment to be divided, with the first payment due on August 31 and the second on September 15. In return, the father agreed to refrain from further legal action if the compensation was paid in full, The Phuket News reported.

But the father claims the payments were not made as promised. Frustrated by the lack of action, he has turned to the media to draw attention to the case and seek justice for his son.
