Real Madrid have reportedly reached an agreement to sign Bournemouth defender Dean Huijsen, activating his £50 million release clause ahead of rival clubs such as Liverpool, Arsenal, and Chelsea.

The 20-year-old Spaniard has been a standout performer for the Cherries this season, playing a key role in their record-breaking Premier League campaign, which has seen them amass 53 points with two games remaining. Bournemouth could still secure European football, but Huijsen’s imminent departure casts doubt over their prospects for next season.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Real Madrid have finalized the deal, with the release clause set to be paid in full by 2026. Huijsen’s composure on the ball and ability to break defensive lines with precise passing have made him a highly sought-after talent. His vision and distribution not only enhance his team’s buildup play but also disrupt opposition pressing schemes, creating opportunities for attackers.

With Xabi Alonso expected to take over as Real Madrid’s new manager, Huijsen’s technical skills could prove vital in linking play with star forwards like Kylian Mbappé. Alonso’s preferred 3-4-3 formation may also help mitigate Huijsen’s occasional struggles in aerial duels, as an additional center-back would provide defensive support.

While Real Madrid continue to monitor other defensive targets, including William Saliba and Ibrahima Konaté, Huijsen’s arrival signals the beginning of a potential overhaul in their backline. His signing represents a major coup for Los Blancos, beating out fierce competition from England’s top clubs.
