New E-Visa System to Streamline Visa Applications

Starting January 1, 2025, visitors intending to travel to Thailand will be able to apply for an e-visa online at Thai embassies and consulates worldwide. Foreign Minister Maris Sangiampongsa announced the launch of the Thai e-visa system, which will be operational at all 94 Thai embassies and consulates.

Convenience for Travelers

Worawoot Pongprapapant, director-general of consular affairs, highlighted that the new system will eliminate the need for travelers to queue and submit multiple documents at embassies. Instead, applicants can conveniently apply for their visas anytime and anywhere through the official website at www.thaievisa.go.th.

  • Online Payment Options: Visa fees can be paid online via Kasikornbank, making the application process more efficient. However, travelers from certain countries may still need to present payment slips at embassies and consulates.

Coverage of the E-Visa System

Inclusive Visa Options for Various Categories

The e-visa system will cater to tourists, students, and workers. Once approved, applicants will receive copies of their e-visas via email, streamlining the entire process.

  • Visa Exemptions: Tourists from 93 countries can enjoy visa-free entry into Thailand for stays of up to 60 days without needing to apply in advance.

Enhancing Thailand’s Accessibility for Visitors

The introduction of the e-visa system marks a significant step towards improving accessibility for international travelers to Thailand. By simplifying the visa application process and promoting convenience, Thailand aims to attract more visitors while ensuring a smooth entry experience. As the country prepares for increased tourism in 2025, this initiative reflects its commitment to enhancing travel experiences.
