The crash took place around 7:30am when the school truck, a songthaew, paused at a red light before attempting a right turn toward Sam Chuk Rattanapokaram School. As the light turned green, the truck proceeded, only to be struck by a 10-wheeler running a red light.

The powerful impact ejected several students seated in the open back of the songthaew onto the road. The injured included the driver and six students—two boys and four girls—who were promptly transported to Sam Chuk Hospital for urgent medical attention.
