In a recent survey by Time Out magazine, Bangkok has ascended to the second position in the “50 Best Cities in the World 2025” list, trailing only Cape Town, South Africa. This ranking is derived from a comprehensive survey of 18,500 travelers worldwide, assessing cities based on culture, cuisine, nightlife, resident satisfaction, and overall value for money.

Culinary Affordability and Excellence in Bangkok

The survey revealed that 84% of Bangkok residents find dining out and café hopping both affordable and accessible. Additionally, 86% of respondents lauded the city’s food scene as either “good” or “amazing.” Time Out highlighted Bangkok’s diverse culinary offerings, ranging from delectable street food to opulent fine dining experiences.

Cultural Landmarks and Urban Green Spaces in Bangkok

Bangkok is renowned for its breathtaking natural and cultural landmarks, such as Wat Arun Ratchawararam Ratchawaramahawihan (the Temple of the Dawn) and the Grand Palace. The city also features numerous beautiful parks that contribute to its allure.

Efficient Public Transportation Enhances Bangkok’s Appeal

The city’s efficient public transportation system, including the expanding Bangkok Mass Transit System (BTS) and Metropolitan Rapid Transit (MRT) networks, has been praised for facilitating easy exploration for both locals and tourists. Notably, areas like Thong Lor and Ekamai have been recognized among the coolest neighborhoods globally.

Bangkok’s Significant Leap in Global Rankings

This year’s ranking signifies a remarkable leap for Bangkok, moving up from the 24th position last year. It reaffirms the city’s status as a vibrant and exciting destination for both tourists and residents. Following Cape Town and Bangkok, the top ten cities in the list include New York, Melbourne, London, New Orleans, Mexico City, Porto, Shanghai, and Copenhagen.
