Arsenal are reportedly preparing a substantial €75 million bid for Barcelona’s Jules Koundé, as Mikel Arteta looks to bolster his defensive options ahead of the new season. The French international could provide crucial depth at center-back, offering competition for starters William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhães, while also slotting in at right-back when needed.

The Gunners’ hefty offer may force Barcelona to reconsider their stance on the 25-year-old, who has been a key figure for the Catalan club since joining in 2022. However, Arsenal could face stiff competition from London rivals Chelsea, who are also keen on reinforcing their backline under new manager Enzo Maresca.

Koundé’s composure, versatility, and top-level experience make him an ideal target for both clubs. Chelsea, in particular, view him as a potential defensive leader—a role they have struggled to fill consistently. With a potential bidding war on the horizon, Barcelona may be tempted to cash in on the defender as they navigate their financial constraints.

As the transfer saga unfolds, Koundé’s next move could significantly shape the defensive dynamics of either Premier League contender.
