Real Madrid’s Antonio Rudiger Claims Racial Abuse in Club World Cup Match Against Pachuca

Real Madrid defender Antonio Rudiger has accused Gustavo Cabral of Pachuca of racially abusing him during their Club World Cup clash on Sunday. The alleged incident occurred in stoppage time, with Rudiger approaching referee Ramon Abatti after an on-field altercation with Cabral.

What Did Gustavo Cabral Allegedly Say?

Sources inside the stadium reported to the Daily Mail that Cabral called Rudiger a “negro de mierda”—a highly offensive Spanish racial slur. However, the Pachuca defender denied the accusation, claiming he instead called Rudiger a “cagon de mierda” (meaning “f***ing coward”).

FIFA Launches Investigation into Racism Allegations

Following the incident, the referee activated FIFA’s anti-discrimination protocol, making the crossed-arms gesture to signal an investigation. Football’s governing body is now reviewing the incident, with potential disciplinary action pending.

Real Madrid and Xabi Alonso Back Rudiger

When asked about the alleged racism in football, Real Madrid coach Xabi Alonso stated:
“Toni told us something, we support Toni, and we will see what happens. The FIFA protocol has been activated, and if it happened, all measures should be taken. Racism is unacceptable in football.”

Pachuca’s Response

Pachuca’s manager, Jaime Lozano, claimed he was unaware of the incident until post-match press conferences:
“I just found out from you. I haven’t spoken to Cabral yet, but racism cannot be justified. I’ve known him for a while and never heard such allegations before.”

Match Recap: Real Madrid Overcome Early Red Card to Win

Despite playing with 10 men after Raúl Asencio’s early red card, Real Madrid secured a 3-1 victory with goals from Jude Bellingham, Arda Guler, and Federico Valverde. Pachuca’s Elías Montiel scored a late consolation goal.

What’s Next for Real Madrid?

The Spanish giants return to Club World Cup action on Friday against Red Bull Salzburg in Group H. Meanwhile, the football world awaits FIFA’s decision on the racism allegations.
