According to reports, a foreign national wanted in connection with the Tuesday or Wednesday murder of a Russian man in Chalong has left the nation.

Immigration officials have verified that Bakhtovar Murozoda, a male suspect believed to be from Tajikistan, departed Thailand on Tuesday, March 12. He is sought after in connection with the killing of a Russian man who was slain at a Chalong rented home.

He was staying in the house at the time of the murder, according to police.

Local residents told police that in the days leading up to the murder, a number of foreign men had been fighting in front of the property, which was being used to grow and sell cannabis.

Police believe a disagreement over the cannabis business may have led to the Russian’s violent death. He was found with his throat cut and several wounds to his neck and body.

Immigration records show that on Tuesday, the prime suspect fled the country on Turkish Airlines flight TK172 to Istanbul. The authorities are now compiling evidence in order to request an arrest warrant and an Interpol Red Notice to have the man extradited to Thailand.
