David Ornstein shares some interesting news about Man United’s future transfer plans

David Ornstein says Manchester United are looking to expand their attacking options in the upcoming transfer window.

United have been busy this summer, signing five players, including three defensive reinforcements, in their bid to return to the Champions League.

It’s been a difficult start to the season for Erik ten Hag, and he already seems under a lot of pressure as United sit in 11th place with two wins from their first five games.

United want to sign more attackers in the upcoming transfer window
Joshua Zirkzee is United’s only attacking new signing, who was signed for £36.5 million but has not scored since the season-opening match against Fulham.

Zirkzee will give Rasmus Hojlund some competition, but it seems United could look to refresh their attack and add other options. With Mason Mount struggling since joining the club, it feels like there is no replacement for Bruno Fernandes at the moment. Anthony could be a potential replacement if he fails to deliver this season.

However, Ornstein provided an update on United’s upcoming transfer activity, saying that the Red Devils will be looking to strengthen their striker position in the upcoming transfer window.

“Erik ten Hag is still trying to impose a certain style and identity and integrate some of these new players into the team,” he said on the Backpage podcast.

“The only new addition to the attacking line was Zirkzee and they felt they needed something more. They will try to improve on this in the next transfer window and get a player like Rasmus Hojlund fit again.”

Despite United’s opportunities, the team has struggled to score goals so far this season, managing just five goals so far, three of which have come against newly promoted Southampton. Ten Hag will be hoping his team can rediscover their goalscoring instincts when United host Spurs at Old Trafford on Sunday – it’s still early days of the season but this is already a crucial game.
