A French national in Pattaya has reported a distressing incident in which he was robbed by a transgender individual who allegedly slashed his bag and stole his mobile phone before fleeing the scene.

The victim, Pascat Gaston Pair Francais, a 71-year-old Frenchman, filed a complaint with Pattaya police at 2 a.m. Francais recounted that the robbery occurred while he was riding a songthaew, a shared public transport vehicle, from Soi Buakhao to Soi 6. During the journey, someone had discreetly slashed his bag and stolen his Samsung Galaxy A34 mobile phone.

Francais described that a transgender individual was also a passenger on the songthaew. Upon reaching Soi 6 and disembarking, he discovered that his black bag had been cut open and his phone was missing. Acting swiftly, Francais reported the incident to the local authorities.

His girlfriend, who chose to remain anonymous, added more details to the account. The couple had been playing pool at a bar in Soi Buakhao before deciding to head back to their accommodation. They took a songthaew from Soi Buakhao to the Tops intersection, and then boarded another one to Soi 6. It was upon their arrival at Soi 6 that they noticed the theft.

The girlfriend mentioned that the only other passenger on the songthaew was a transgender individual, leading them to suspect that this person was responsible for the crime.

Pattaya police have since launched an investigation into the incident, including reviewing CCTV footage from the area to identify the suspect involved in the robbery.

In a related incident, another crime in Pattaya involved a businessman who was robbed by a transgender woman he met at a hotel. The suspect later attempted to sell the stolen vehicle on social media, but managed to evade police during a sting operation. Additionally, two teenagers were reported to have brandished a gun to rob a high school student in Bangkok, in full view of passersby, further highlighting the ongoing issue of street crime in the region.
