Ceasefire Violations Condemned

Cambodian Fire Targets Thai Soil

On July 29, 2025, the Royal Thai Army publicly condemned Cambodia for violating a ceasefire agreement that took effect at midnight, accusing Cambodian forces of firing on multiple Thai locations. Army spokesman Major General Winthai Suvaree reported that Cambodia initiated attacks on areas including Chong An Ma, Chong Bok, Prasat Ta Kwai, Phu Makhuea, and Sam Tae, undermining the fragile truce.

Thailand Upholds Defensive Stance

Protecting Sovereignty Lawfully

Major General Winthai emphasized that Thailand strictly adhered to the ceasefire, halting all firing at midnight as agreed. In response to Cambodian actions, the Thai military took defensive measures to protect its sovereignty, asserting its actions align with international law. The army denied any invasion, focusing solely on countering incursions to safeguard Thai territory.

Breach Undermines Mutual Trust

Cambodia’s Intentions Questioned

The Thai Army’s statement described Cambodia’s post-midnight attacks as a deliberate attempt to erode mutual trust established by the ceasefire. Major General Winthai condemned the actions, highlighting their impact on bilateral efforts to de-escalate the ongoing border conflict. The violations have heightened tensions, complicating efforts to restore peace in the region.

Efforts for Dialogue Continue

Regional Commanders Plan Talks

Despite the breaches, local military commanders from both nations are working to arrange discussions, with a meeting rescheduled for 10 am on July 29 at the Chong Chom border crossing in Surin province. These talks aim to address the ceasefire violations and explore paths to stabilize the volatile border situation, as both sides navigate the challenges of maintaining peace.
