Cambodian Fire Targets Thai Soil

On July 29, 2025, the Royal Thai Army publicly condemned Cambodia for violating a ceasefire agreement that took effect at midnight, accusing Cambodian forces of firing on multiple Thai locations. Army spokesman Major General Winthai Suvaree reported that Cambodia initiated attacks on areas including Chong An Ma, Chong Bok, Prasat Ta Kwai, Phu Makhuea, and Sam Tae, undermining the fragile truce.

Major General Winthai emphasized that Thailand strictly adhered to the ceasefire, halting all firing at midnight as agreed. The army denied any invasion, focusing solely on countering incursions to safeguard Thai territory.

Regional Commanders Plan Talks

Despite the breaches, local military commanders from both nations are working to arrange discussions, with a meeting rescheduled for 10 am on July 29 at the Chong Chom border crossing in Surin province. These talks aim to address the ceasefire violations and explore paths to stabilize the volatile border situation, as both sides navigate the challenges of maintaining peace.
