Responding to Government Request

Shutting Down Monitoring Platform

On July 27, 2025, the People’s Party announced it would comply with the Thai government’s directive to shut down its website monitoring the Thai-Cambodian border conflict. The decision follows public concerns that the site might have inadvertently revealed sensitive locations, such as evacuation centers and hospitals, potentially exposing them to risks. The party emphasized its commitment to national security while addressing the government’s apprehensions.

Denying Sensitive Data Disclosure

Clarifying Information Sources

The People’s Party, through spokesperson Parit Wacharasindhu, firmly denied allegations that the website shared sensitive or classified information that could jeopardize Thai civilian safety. The party clarified that no specific coordinates of shelters, military positions, or artillery zones were published. All data on the site, including evacuation zones and healthcare facility locations, was sourced from publicly available government announcements and platforms like Google Maps.

Supporting Transparent Communication

Advocating for Centralized Updates

The party urged the Thai government to streamline its communication strategy to provide clear, unified updates to both domestic and international audiences. By centralizing information, the People’s Party believes Thailand can counter Cambodia’s information campaigns more effectively. The website’s closure reflects the party’s willingness to cooperate with authorities while maintaining that its platform aimed to promote transparency during the ongoing border tensions.

Commitment to Peace and Diplomacy

Promoting Ceasefire Efforts

The People’s Party reiterated its goal of fostering peace and supporting a diplomatic resolution to the Thai-Cambodian border conflict. The monitoring website was intended to document the situation accurately and highlight Thailand’s defensive stance to the global community. As ceasefire talks are scheduled in Malaysia on July 28, the party hopes its compliance with the site’s closure will reinforce efforts toward de-escalation and stability in the region.
