New Law Takes Effect June 5, 2025

The National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC), led by Secretary-General Sarote Phuengrampan, has highlighted that the updated law introduces robust Anti-SLAPP (Strategic Lawsuits Against Public Participation) protections. This legislation shields individuals who, with honest intent, report corruption, share evidence, or voice opinions that support official duties or fall under the NACC’s oversight. It’s a key move to foster a safer environment for whistleblowers in 2025.
Comprehensive Support for Whistleblowers
Legal and Financial Aid Across Cases
Under the new act, whistleblowers receive extensive support tailored to various threats. In criminal cases, if maliciously targeted during investigations or court proceedings, the NACC can issue protection orders and offer legal representation, covering litigation costs. For civil lawsuits driven by bad faith, NACC officials or designated lawyers provide defense, including court fee assistance, ensuring whistleblowers aren’t financially burdened in Thailand.

The law also addresses workplace retaliation, mandating the NACC to intervene if whistleblowers face unjust disciplinary actions. By issuing protection resolutions to superiors, the commission ensures these proceedings are paused immediately, safeguarding employees who expose corruption.
