Capital Reports Highest Case Numbers

Thailand recorded 53,563 Covid-19 cases from May 18 to 24, with Bangkok topping the list at 9,539 infections, according to the Department of Disease Control. The week also saw five deaths, with 2,827 inpatients and 50,736 outpatients, highlighting the ongoing challenge of managing the virus in densely populated urban areas.

Age Groups Most Affected by Outbreak

Young Adults and Elderly at Risk

The largest group of Covid-19 cases involved individuals aged 30–39, totaling 10,740 infections, followed closely by those aged 20–29 with 9,527 cases. The elderly (60 and over) accounted for 8,107 cases, while young children aged 0–4 made up 4,117 cases, underscoring the virus’s impact across diverse age demographics.

Regional Hotspots Drive Case Numbers

Chon Buri and Samut Prakan Report High Infections

Beyond Bangkok, other regions reported significant cases, with Chon Buri recording 3,379 infections, Samut Prakan 2,491, Nonthaburi 2,278, and Rayong 2,210. These areas, known for their economic and industrial activity, face heightened risks due to population density and mobility, prompting increased vigilance.

Schools Adapt to Rising Cases

Online Learning Implemented for Safety

In response to the surge, Ratwinit Bangkaeo School in Samut Prakan’s Bang Phli district shifted to online teaching from Monday to Wednesday. The secondary school’s management announced the temporary measure on its website, prioritizing student safety amid the rising number of local Covid-19 cases.

Nationwide Covid-19 Trends in 2025

Cumulative Cases Reach Nearly 187,000

From January 1 to May 26, Thailand reported a total of 186,955 Covid-19 cases, with 46 deaths, reflecting the persistent public health challenge. Authorities continue to monitor the situation closely, urging residents to follow safety protocols to curb the spread of the virus and protect vulnerable populations.
