New Liverpool manager Arne Skill deftly sidestepped questions about Jeremie Frimpong’s reported medical examination following Monday’s disappointing result against Brighton.

The Merseyside club appear poised to secure the Bayer Leverkusen defender as Trent Alexander-Arnold’s replacement, with the English full-back expected to complete a free transfer to Real Madrid when his contract concludes this summer.

Sources indicate Liverpool have triggered Frimpong’s €35 million (£29.4m) release clause and finalized terms on a five-year agreement with the Dutch international.

When pressed by journalists about whether the 24-year-old had completed his medical assessments, the Reds’ boss offered a characteristically guarded response:

“You tell me,” Slot quipped. “As everyone knows, we’ll discuss these matters properly when there’s something official to announce. Until then, there’s nothing to say about any individual.”

Frimpong departs the Bundesliga champions after an impressive tenure that yielded 30 goals and 44 assists across 190 matches in all competitions.

The former Manchester City youth product will need to adjust to a conventional full-back role in Slot’s system after thriving as an attacking wing-back under Xabi Alonso’s tactical setup.

Alexander-Arnold’s imminent exit means Frimpong will likely compete with Conor Bradley for the starting right-back position next season.

Liverpool’s defensive overhaul may extend to the opposite flank, with negotiations reportedly progressing for Bournemouth left-back Milos Kerkez. The Hungarian’s potential arrival could challenge Andy Robertson’s starting position, potentially reducing the Scottish defender’s minutes in the upcoming campaign.
