A Thai man was arrested after stealing valuable belongings from a Russian couple at Kata Beach in Phuket. The swift action of the local police led to the recovery of most of the stolen items, bringing closure to the victims after the unsettling incident.

A Day at the Beach Turns into a Nightmare

The incident occurred on October 18, when the Russian couple, enjoying a relaxing day at Kata Beach, left their belongings unattended. Their peaceful day quickly took a turn when they noticed a man snatching their items and fleeing on a motorcycle. Unable to stop him in time, they later reported the theft to the Karon Police Station.

Valuable Items Stolen

Among the stolen items were a gold iPhone 13 Pro Max, cash, credit cards, and a gold ring. The theft left the couple distressed, but their prompt report helped the police initiate a swift investigation.

Police Action Leads to Quick Arrest

Security Footage Tracks the Suspect

Following the complaint, police reviewed security footage and successfully traced the suspect to a rented room in the Chalong sub-district. The suspect, identified as Surachai, a 35-year-old man, was apprehended later that same day.

Recovery of Stolen Items

Surachai was found with some of the stolen items, including credit cards, cash, and the gold ring. However, he had already sold the iPhone to a local mobile shop through an intermediary named Tom. The police efficiently tracked down Tom, retrieved the phone, and returned it to the victims.

While Surachai and Tom have been summoned for further legal proceedings, the police have not yet clarified the exact charges. The Russian couple were invited to the police station to recover their belongings, though some cash had already been spent by the suspect.

Swift Justice Brings Relief to Tourists

Thanks to the quick response of the local authorities, the Russian couple recovered most of their stolen items, providing a sense of relief and resolution to their ordeal.
