Manchester United coach Darren Fletcher is under scrutiny and may face disciplinary action from the Football Association (FA) following a heated outburst at match officials during a Premier League clash against Brentford. The incident occurred at Old Trafford during half-time when referee Samuel Barrott instructed United defender Matthijs de Ligt to leave the pitch for medical treatment, a decision that led to controversy.

While De Ligt was off the field attending to a persistent head injury, Brentford capitalized on the situation, scoring from a corner through Ethan Pinnock. This turn of events left United enraged, as they conceded a goal while being a man down. United’s manager Erik ten Hag and assistant coach Ruud van Nistelrooy were both shown yellow cards for their protests, but it was Darren Fletcher who continued his remonstrations as the teams headed into the tunnel at the break.

Footage revealed Fletcher in a heated argument with fourth official Gavin Ward, followed closely by referee Barrott and his assistants. Fletcher, a former United midfielder and now part of the coaching staff, faces the possibility of an FA charge if the altercation is reported in Barrott’s match summary.

The match ultimately saw United come from behind, with Alejandro Garnacho and Rasmus Hojlund both finding the back of the net. Manager Erik ten Hag praised Garnacho’s performance, highlighting the young forward’s goal-scoring abilities and contribution to key plays.

The potential FA charge looming over Fletcher could impact the coaching staff as they prepare for upcoming matches. Fans and pundits await the FA’s decision, as the disciplinary outcome could affect Manchester United’s sideline personnel for future fixtures.
