Upcoming Toll Fee Adjustments

Motorists in Bangkok are reminded that toll fees for the Uttaraphimuk Elevated Tollway, commonly known as the Don Muang Tollway, will increase by 5 to 10 baht starting Sunday, December 22, 2024. This adjustment is part of a scheduled fee increase outlined in the contract signed with the Department of Highways.

Specific Fee Changes

According to the announcement from Don Muang Tollway Plc, the fee for the Din Daeng-Don Muang section will rise by 10 baht, while the Don Muang-National Memorial section will see an increase of 5 baht.

  • Current Fee Structure: Currently, toll fees start at 40 baht and can reach a maximum of 170 baht, depending on vehicle type and distance traveled. The new fees will not alter this cap.

Background on Toll Fee Increases

Contractual Obligations

The fee increase is in accordance with a contract established on September 12, 2007, which allows for toll adjustments every five years. The next scheduled increase will occur on December 21, 2029.

  • Route Overview: The Don Muang Tollway spans a total distance of 28.22 kilometers, connecting Bangkok’s Phaya Thai district to Pathum Thani’s Khlong Luang district. It serves as a vital route for travelers seeking a quicker alternative to the often-congested Vibhavadi Rangsit Road.

Preparing for the Change

Motorists are encouraged to prepare for these upcoming toll fee changes and factor them into their travel budgets. The Don Muang Tollway continues to provide an essential service for those navigating northern Bangkok, and staying informed about toll adjustments can help ensure smooth travel experiences.
