Ange Postecoglou comments on clash with Tottenham fans after Bournemouth defeat: ‘I didn’t like what was said’

Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou said he “didn’t like what was said” by fans after a 1-0 defeat to Bournemouth, sparking a clash between the Australian player and some fans. A goal from Dean Huissen inside 11 minutes finally drew the two teams and left Spurs in 10th place in the Premier League table.

Ange Postecoglou said he “didn’t like what was said” about a confrontation with some Tottenham Hotspur fans after a 1-0 defeat to Bournemouth.
Spurs’ defeat at the Vitality Stadium means they have now won just one of their last six games in all competitions, and tourists expressed their anger towards the team after the final whistle.
Postecoglou appeared to be embroiled in a heated confrontation with some fans, and when asked about the exchange in his post-match press conference, he admitted he was reacting to comments he “didn’t like”. “They’re disappointed, and rightly so,” Postecoglou said. “They gave me direct feedback and I think I’ve taken it into consideration.”
Asked what Spurs fans said, he replied: “Yeah, you’re probably not cut out for it here, dude.”
Postecoglou added: “I have no problem with that, I’m a human being and I didn’t like what was said but I have to be patient.”
“I’ve been in this job for many years so I know you have to understand the frustration and disappointment when things don’t go your way.
“It’s natural that you’re disappointed because you gave up another football game tonight. It’s ok, I agree with all of this.

Dean Huyssen scored in the 11th minute of the Premier League game, and despite Evanilson’s goal being cancelled out in the second half, Bournemouth continued to push forward.

And Postecoglou feels his team is repeating past mistakes with the defeat, which has left them languishing in 10th place in the Premier League table.

“It’s very disappointing,” Postecoglou continued. “We started well, started the game the way we wanted to, started to control it, but then we conceded another bad goal, a really bad goal.

“This allows the opponent (and in any case it’s difficult) to play calm, counter-attacking football, so we have to open up. “It’s disappointing, it’s not good enough. It’s not a one-off. We’ve been through this three or four times before and we’re paying the price.”

The goal came from another set-piece, but it’s been a running theme for Postecoglou’s side, with Kulusevski telling Amazon Prime that Spurs “were not good enough in certain aspects.”

“It’s not good enough,” he said. “We conceded another corner and then everything became even more difficult. We’ve conceded too many easy goals from corners this year.

“We were playing a lot better in the second half, we had chances but we couldn’t score and we lost the game. It’s disappointing to lose again.

“We’re not good enough in some areas, especially from corners as I said before. We’ve conceded too many goals and it’s difficult to play when you’re 1-0 down. “We have another game against Chelsea in three days, so let’s focus on that and move on.

“Of course, there are things we need to work on and it shows in the performance as well as the results.

“Something is missing and there is no one else to help us solve the problem, so it’s down to us the players.

“I think we played well in the first 25 minutes of the second half. They were more intense in the first half, we gave them too much possession, we didn’t press them enough and they won too many duels.
“We’ve always played well against good teams so we expect a good performance on Sunday and then we have to look to the future and improve the details that we’re missing.”

Spurs will be looking to get back on track when they face second-placed Chelsea on Sunday.
