Enhancing Domestic Tourism with Free Camping Options

To boost domestic tourism and support the local economy, the Department of Highways has announced the opening of 37 free tent camping sites across Thailand for the upcoming New Year celebrations. This initiative will run from December 27, 2024, to January 2, 2025.

The director-general of the Department of Highways, Apirat Chaiyawongnoi, stated that this initiative aligns with the government’s “Transportation for Thailand’s Opportunities” policy, which focuses on improving transportation infrastructure to facilitate tourism.

  • Location and Amenities: The camping sites are strategically located throughout the country: 21 in the North, 7 in the Northeast, 3 in the West, and 6 in the Central Region. Each site is equipped with basic amenities, including 24-hour toilet facilities and drinking water.
